Trifecta Writing Challenge – Feline Hijinks

This weekend’s Trifecta challenge is to rewrite a favorite book in 33 words. WIth so many favorite books to choose from, I went back to a childhood favorite, The Cat In The Hat.

Sally and her bro are chilling at home.
Up shows a cat
Wearing a hat
And with him, Things One and Two.
Much to the chagrin of the family pet fish,
Hijinks ensue.

  1. “Much to the” always leads the word “chagrin”.
There seems no other way to begin
A phrase that ampliflies “distress” —
    The trope’s an existential mess!

  2. wonderful job, sandylikeabeach… and I’m duly impressed at the immensity of the challenge, ie rewriting Dr Seuss!!!

  3. Thanks so much for linking up with Trifextra this weekend. I love your retelling of Seuss. My favorite part is how you managed to get the word “chilling” in. Great job with the prompt. I hope you’ll come back on Monday to help us celebrate our 33rd week.

  4. This was great! So creative, and of course you get bonus points from me for using the word chagrin. I love it!
    Well done!
