It wasn’t the first blow
or the second
Eventually
a crack appeared
sending fault lines racing across the surface
like fingers of lightning shooting across the sky
There was no sound
to the explosion that followed
Pieces rained down
shimmering like diamonds
Each piece picked up gently
turning it over looking for the flaw
Wondering how they could ever
fit together again
Knowing she would never be the same
I wish I was a poet 🙂
I don’t think of myself as a poet, but there are times when the words just seem to come to me.
This is beautiful. I know what you mean about the words just coming to you. I’ve very rarely written poetry, but when I do I know it comes from a very special place. I just pick up the pen and write because, as you say, the words just come to me. This is truly a lovely poem. Thanks for sharing it with us.
You’re welcome. The happy, puppy tails and sugary poems are difficult to write, but when I’m in an emotionally raw place, the words find a way to the page.
This poetically describes my shattered post..
It’s often easier for me to share my feelings through poetry. The last few weeks have been rough emotionally, but I’m finding my way though it.
Here’s hoping your writing is providing you with some measure of therapeutic value. 🙂
Thanks, John.
I love this because I can imagine it relating to more than one thing.
Thanks, I like the ambiguity of poetry.
WHERE IS THE LOVE BUTTON?
